Welcome to OldDog/NewTricks a new club created for long time artists to help inspire us....to help us support each other as we take our artistic skills in our own hands and teach ourselves to go further, learn more and stretch the boundaries of our abilities.
It's about challenging yourself...
Each month we host a theme (lighting, poses, composition, style, etc) and from that theme 2-5 aspects of it will be suggested as a focus for trying something new in an art piece. We will gather references, do studies, find aspects of what we love and admire in an art and teach ourselves how to make it happen.
We welcome mature & established artists of every art genre...
Those of us who have taught ourselves, those of us who have gone to school, who are still in school, whose of us who feel our learning has possibly become stagnant, those of us who want a challenge or to learn something new...whatever reason we can use this to challenge our skill and become better artists while supporting each other not just with kind words but with critiques, suggestions, and tips.
What we ask of each other...
You are not required to do the challenge every month, you will not be disqualified or removed if you fail to finish in one month two months or three months. Your learning is in your hands. We’re just here to help inspire.
We applaud diversity…
We welcome all genres and all types of artwork. Photography, illustration, sculpting…dark, industrial, fractal, stylized, photo manipulation, painters, cartoonists, comic artists…Come with an open mind and a desire to learn and teach yourself.
To be a part of it...
PM & DevWatch to be added to the members list.

Challenge 2 - EMOTIONS IN FORM AND COLOR
Create an image using only colors, form and pose to express emotion, if using a figure, do not allow the expression or face to be visible. The focus of this piece is EMOTION.
Restrictions:
- If using a figure, do not allow the expression or face to be visible. Focus on using the shape and pose of the body as well as color to express the emotion.
Suggestions:
This project does not have to include a human figure; you can accomplish it using landscapes, a still life, abstracts, photography, etc. You have a WIDE range of subject available to you and we highly encourage you to do research on the psychology of color and form.
Feel free to ask questions either on this journal or note one of the mods. Good luck and have fun!
Deadline: JANUARY 1st midnight your time.
(make sure you note THIS community when you complete your work and provide a link to it)

No feature yet.

(PMed suggestions for artistic links are welcome)
~Color Blender - excellent tool for color picking.
